Introductions first: My name is Carl, or pettypi, as I am known to some. I'm Canadian, a child of the '60s and I like to think I'm well-travelled, having lived in Iceland, England and Venezuela.
- This has taught me to think that people are the same no matter how different they are.
I'm a computer scientist by training, although it's probably more accurate to call me a software engineer, in spite of not having a professional designation.
- This has taught me to think that each of life's problems has at least one solution, even if it's a kludge.
I was brought up as a Baha'i. I guess I haven't been one since I came of age, since I never signed up, don't go to meetings and don't pray, but I still consider myself to be of that faith.
- This has taught me to think for myself, to seek my own answers.
This last point is important, since it is the basis of my musings, in which I will blog about my views on philosophy and theology, and how they apply to life here on Earth and the rest of the universe(s). There isn't much original here, to be sure, but I know them to be the absolute truth, just as I knew them to be the last time they changed, and the time before that....
And if, while on this journey, I step on anyone's toes, it is not my intention to offend but I probably will, so I apologize in advance. I will also continue to quote Douglas Adams, since I believe he probably suffered from the same ailment as I.
So, my next post will be the answer to the question: Who is this God person anyway?
